Services

Melinda’s goal-oriented teaching consists of tailored individual and group singing lessons focusing on classical and contemporary music. Her teaching philosophy is informed by Kodaly, Orf-Schulwerk and Dalcroze methodologies and focuses on the Kodaly approach for learning to sing.

She provides integrated and neuro-inclusive singing lessons for individuals and small groups from beginners to advanced learners aged 10 years and over.

Melinda’s special focus areas are building a strong technical singing foundation for students to have the confidence and ability to perform across musical genres.

She offers a unique combined holistic approach to singing. This mindfully integrates the breath and body to relieve muscular tension and improve vocal control and versatility as a performer.

Workshops include:

  • Safe vocal technique and breath support for musicians and public speakers
  • Inclusive group singing/chanting for stress relief, focus and relaxation
  • Integrative yoga-informed movement for posture and performance
  • Meditation specifically to free your voice and focus your mind
  • Stage presence and microphone technique

Concerts and Community

Students are encouraged to perform in biannual student concerts. This is a valuable learning experience and supports your continued growth and development as a musician. However, this is not a mandatory requirement for those singing primarily for relaxation or leisure.

There will be voluntary performance opportunities with local community organisations and opportunities to engage with industry professionals via the collaborative creative arts community.

Payment Plan

1. If not paid by the end of Week 4, lessons will temporarily cease until the invoice is paid.

 2. Fortnightly payments must be paid in advance, or lessons will not be taught.

Bookings are required in writing, at least one week before the lesson.

Cancellation of a lesson requires at least 24 hours notice by email or text. To be rescheduled, a medical or similar justification is required.

Rescheduling cannot be offered more than twice per term.

Practising between lessons is essential to your progress as a musician. For your development, I recommend at least 20 minutes of practice per day for at least 4 or 5 days each week. This includes warm-ups, scales and learning lyrics.

After the first lesson, warming up should take place prior to the lesson. This means we can focus on your skill development using the time available.

Due to copyright laws, you will need to purchase any sheet music and/or backing tracks for exams and public performances. If you need live accompaniment for a performance, you will need to coordinate this and ensure you can pay them.
